Carlita Scarboro-Vazquez is an interdisciplinary artist, educator, and technologist based in Atlanta, Georgia, whose work bridges traditional craft and cutting-edge digital expression. Through her creative practice — CVaz Designs — she explores themes of identity, cultural narrative, female empowerment, and the evolving relationship between art, technology, and social impact. Her work spans digital art, graphic design, painting, photography, mixed media, and immersive installations, grounded in the belief that art is everywhere and deeply connected to how we live, learn, and communicate.
As the founder of CVaz Designs and the educational initiative The Future Seekers, Carlita builds pathways that merge creativity, engineering, and community engagement. Rooted in STEAM principles, her work integrates science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics to foster innovation, critical thinking, and storytelling — particularly for women and underrepresented communities navigating creative and technical fields.
Carlita is a Spelman College Switch Code Fellow, where she collaborated with T. Lang Dance (Spelman College) and the Emory University Arts & Social Justice Program, working closely with composer and sound artist Adam Mizra. This interdisciplinary fellowship brought together visual art, movement, sound, and emerging technologies to create immersive extended-reality environments and performance-driven digital landscapes. In collaboration with The Future Seekers, Carlita further expanded this work by engaging youth voices in the creative process, bridging higher education, public arts, and K–12 innovation. The fellowship culminated in a live, multi-showcase presentation at the Spelman Innovation Lab Motion Capture Room, featuring interactive projections, soundscapes, and choreographic embodiment centered on social justice and sustainability themes.
Her recent exhibitions and accomplishments include Art Basel Miami Beach (2024) with Kufa Gallery, ArtFields 2024, Empower Her at the Emma Darnell Aviation Center, Atlanta Art Week, and Real Surreal (2023). She also participated in the Overflow exhibition at C. Brooks Gallery, where her work was presented as a visual meditation on generational knowledge, resilience, and the transfer of wisdom through material, symbol, and form. Her prints are held in the permanent collections of Howard University Law School and Dupont Circle in Washington, D.C. Carlita is currently represented by Violet Theory Art in Atlanta.
In addition to exhibitions, Carlita leads impactful creative programming and workshops, including “Speaker Your Mind,” an interdisciplinary workshop developed in collaboration with Spelman Innovation Lab and Fulton County Public Arts. This program centers storytelling, creative technology, and self-expression, inviting participants to explore voice, identity, and civic engagement through art, engineering, and emerging media.
Through CVaz Designs, which is coming soon with new projects and collaborations, Carlita continues to expand her practice into projection mapping, AI-assisted art, and interactive installations, blending hand-crafted processes with digital tools such as Adobe Creative Suite, Procreate, TouchDesigner, and AI-driven workflows. Her work invites audiences to reflect, connect, and imagine futures where creativity, technology, education, and culture exist in powerful dialogue.
